Allston, MA is a region of the City of Boston. Named after American painter and poet, Washington Allston, the neighborhood comprises land covered under the zip code 02134. The majority of Allston administration is handled under the adjacent neighborhood, Brighton. Hence the collaboration, the area is often referred to as Allston-Brighton. The Boston Police Department District D-14 covers both areas and the Boston Fire Department Allston Station is located in Union Square, housing Engine 41 and Ladder 14. Engine 41 is nicknamed “The Bull” in reference to the historic stockyards of Allston.

Most of the homes in Allston consist of brick apartment buildings, seen primarily on Commonwealth Avenue and the surrounding streets leading to areas farther along Brighton Avenue nearby Brighton. This region tends to be populated by wooden triple-deckers. Lower Allston, across from the Massachusetts Turnpike has mainly turn of the century single-family and multi-family Victorian homes.
